The Woodland Trust would like to note that trees and woodland help to improve air quality.
Trees improve air quality through the absorption of particulates from vehicle emissions and other sources - such that it has been estimated that doubling the tree cover in the West Midlands alone would reduce mortality as a result of poor air quality from particulates by 140 people per year.
