Local Plan 2015-2030 Preferred Options for Consultation

Representation ID: 1897

Received: 24/10/2013

Respondent: Historic England

Representation Summary:

Policy welcomed. Would be appropriate to add to part c) '....and their settings in order to conserve their significance' to align wording with the NPPF. Policy could also indicate how a positive strategy for the historic environment will be actively pursued (para 126, NPPF). Reference could be made to ensuring heritage assets are kept in viable use, and their future not put in jeopardy by unsympathetic development.

Consider preparing a heritage strategy to underpin and inform historic environment policies.

Suggest historic environment indicators should include the number of heritage assets at risk (Listed buildings/conservation areas, scheduled monuments/Parks and Gardens).
