Some of the areas designated Green Belt are NOT in actual fact in open Green Belt. The council need to take a more pragmatic view particularly on infill land that is located within the Green Belt. Some infill plots with defensible boundaries are turned down by planning officers which means truly open greenbelt areas such as Dunton are on the agenda. We can meet a good proportion of our housing target by utilising infill sites in the GB without actually expanding the urban area into open GB.
Planning officers should also consider a grading or categorisation of GB space ie. low quality - high quality. Some of our infill GB land is aesthetically very poor.
